How Life Settlement Labs Works
Life Settlement Labs is a technology-powered valuation and education platform, not a licensed life settlement broker or provider. We created this platform to solve a problem: most policyholders have no idea what their life insurance is actually worth on the secondary market, and the information available online is often confusing, incomplete, or biased.
Our role is threefold:
1. Educate
We provide free, unbiased resources, including our blog, podcast, state-by-state regulatory guides, and glossary, so you can understand how life settlements work before making any decisions.
2. Valuate
Our proprietary valuation engine uses actuarial modeling, premium projections, and real market data to estimate what your policy might be worth. This gives you a starting point grounded in data, not guesswork.
3. Connect
If you decide to explore selling your policy, we connect you with licensed life settlement providers who can make formal offers. These licensed affiliates handle all regulated activities, including underwriting, bidding, and closing, in full compliance with your state's laws.
What We Are Not
We want to be clear about what we don't do:
- We are not a licensed life settlement broker or provider
- We do not purchase policies ourselves
- We do not provide legal, tax, or financial advice
- We do not pressure you to sell
Our job is to give you information and options. The decision is always yours.
Why We Built This
The life settlement market has historically been opaque. Policyholders often don't know they can sell their policy, don't understand what drives value, or feel rushed into decisions without enough information.
We built Life Settlement Labs to change that. Our team brings deep experience in life settlement underwriting, actuarial science, and policy valuation. We believe that when people have access to clear, accurate information, they make better decisions, whether that means selling a policy, keeping it, or exploring other options entirely.
How Our Licensed Affiliates Work
When you're ready to move beyond a preliminary valuation, we transfer your information to a licensed life settlement provider in our network. These providers:
- Hold active licenses in the states where they operate
- Follow all applicable state and federal regulations
- Conduct formal medical underwriting and policy review
- Present your policy to institutional buyers
- Handle the closing process with full legal documentation
You'll always know who you're working with before any regulated activity begins.
