For Professionals

Underwriting at software speed. Reviewed by human experts.

A single case can arrive as thousands of pages of medical records. The work is not reading them. It is finding the handful of facts that move mortality, placing them in clinical context, and being consistent about it on every case.

We use technology to do that review at scale, with experienced reviewers on the judgment calls. You receive completed underwriting, not another platform to run.

Service as Software

You send us the case. We deliver the underwriting.

You do not license a model, operate a separate platform, train staff on a new system, or rebuild the process you already have. The software runs behind the service and gives our reviewers an organized picture of the case to work from. What comes back is finished analysis.

What an engagement can cover

  • Preliminary mortality assessment
  • Full medical-record underwriting
  • Structured medical summary
  • Life expectancy and survival analysis
  • Independent second opinion
  • Policy valuation and premium analysis

Scope is set per engagement. Not every engagement includes every item.

How it works

  1. Secure case intake

You send the case through a secure channel we set up with you. We confirm what arrived and flag what is missing.

  2. Extraction and structuring

Records are converted to text, including scanned and faxed pages, then split into visits and dated events so every finding traces back to its source. The goal is not a summary of the file, but identification of what may materially change mortality, including the negatives.

  3. Case-specific mortality analysis

Cases are routed, not forced through one generic impairment framework. Comorbidity-driven cases run through our structured mortality engine and standard industry valuation tables. Cases dominated by a specific disease route to condition-specific survival analysis anchored in published clinical literature, selected on the stage, biomarkers, therapy, and response recorded in the file. Where both paths produce a result, we take the more conservative one.

  4. Human expert review

Our reviewers spend their time on conflicting evidence, incomplete records, unusual progression, and final quality control. Every detected condition is shown with the source text it came from and can be confirmed, corrected, or rejected, and any change a reviewer makes is recorded with its reason.

  5. Clear, auditable delivery

A completed case may include structured medical findings, the principal mortality drivers, estimated life expectancy and survival analysis, material uncertainties, the underwriting rationale, and optional policy or premium analysis.

Ways to use the service

Preliminary case triage
An early read before you commit full underwriting spend.
Full medical-record underwriting
Complete analysis of the record set, with the reasoning behind it.
Independent second opinions
A second mortality view showing where two readings diverge, not a challenge to another report.
Portfolio re-underwriting
Periodic review across a book, for extension risk and aged assumptions.
Policy and premium analysis
Underwriting connected to projected premiums, policy structure, and cost-of-insurance behavior.

We work with life settlement providers and brokers, funds and institutional investors, financial advisers and distribution platforms, and underwriting and valuation organizations.

Built on evidence, not just automation.

We benchmarked our structured mortality engine against established market underwriters on historical impaired-life cases, measuring calibration, whether predicted life expectancy matches realized mortality, and discrimination, whether the cases predicted to die sooner actually do.

On the cases the structured engine is the production predictor for, observed calibration was nearly identical to the market-underwriter aggregate and discrimination was within approximately two percentage points. We share the figures and methodology with professional users on request.

Evaluate LSL using your own cases.

The most useful way to assess an underwriting service is on cases where you already know the answer. A pilot can run on historical cases with known outcomes, on current cases alongside your existing process, or both, and will tell you how our extraction and mortality analysis compare with your current results, where the two disagree, and how the service fits your workflow.

Tell us about your organization and what you are trying to evaluate. We will follow up to scope a pilot.
